Faith For Change joins Tutor Our Children in advocating free tutoring services for disadvantaged students

Washington – Today, Faith For Change joined Tutor Our Children (TOC) in the fight to preserve free tutoring services for the most vulnerable students who continue to struggle in the country’s lowest-performing schools. Faith For Change is a coalition of people of faith united by a desire to improve academic outcomes for high needs public school students.  Our mission is to organize and create a well-resourced faith community committed to improving the likelihood of academic success for public school students, particularly those who have been placed at risk.

“We are excited to join forces with our friends at Tutor Our Children to advocate for federally funded tutoring services and expand quality afterschool programs for our most vulnerable students,” said Rev. Romal Tune, Founder and Executive Director.  “Free tutoring services are nothing short of a lifeline for so many students struggling in underperforming schools.  We look forward to working together on behalf of parents to ensure they have a voice in their child’s education.”

TOC and Faith For Change share a strong commitment to providing academic programs that work, preserving parent choice in education and ensuring that disadvantaged students struggling in low-performing schools have the tools they need to succeed.  For years, TOC has advocated – through state and federal legislation – a robust and rigorous accountability system to ensure that students receive high quality support from a wide range of national and community-based providers.
